  5. Richard E. Fiegle (or "Rick" as he's known by friends) has been programming computers since he was in the seventh grade in 1974.
  6.  
  7. Rick has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from GMI Engineering & Management Institute in Flint, Michigan, and is currently pursuing his M.S. in Software Engineering from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.
  8.  
  9. Rick works at Delco Electronics (part of Hughes Electronics, which is part of General Motors) and has been there since 1985.  At Delco, he has worked on robotic systems, CAD data manipulation, factory information systems, and product labeling.
  10.  
  11. Rick enjoys spending time with his wife, Kelly, their two cats Max Velcro and Two Step, and their dog Wellington.  Rick also enjoys freshwater panfishing.

  21. The Future of MacUpdate
  22. ----------------------
  23. Following are features that are either on the drawing board, or in various stages of implementation:

  25. •  Collect and Defer Errors and Questions until all synchronization has been completed.
  26.  
  27. •  Compare First, show progress bar while synchronizing.
  28.  
  29. •  Always use Full Path.
  30.  
  31. •  Different sets of Settings Files for the Automation Tools to auto-synchronize, each with it's own timing/frequency settings.
  32.  
  33. •  Resolve Aliases, and then synchronize the original items.
  34.  
  35. •  Copy Verification
  36.  
  37. •  Move to Trash and Secured Delete option (when Deleting Loners, for example).
  38.  
  39. •  Detect when both the Source and Destination files have been modified since the last synchronization.
  40.  
  41. •  Keep Previous Versions (for example, append ;1   ;2   ;3   etc to end of filename).

  49. After MacUpdate 3.2 came out, I corresponded a lot with Luca Tami.  Luca had many good ideas, some of which are implemented in one form or another in MacUpdate 4.0.

  51. FIGLEAF Development

  53. FIGLEAF Development was founded in 1992 and currently only develops shareware for the Macintosh.

  55. FIGLEAF's other publicly available Macintosh software includes:

  57. GetInfo Extreme  1.0.1 - a utility that mimics the Finder's Get Info window, but to an extreme.  More information than you'd ever want to know about your files.  Also lets you edit file information, and batch-process files in a folder.

  59. LineUp 2.1 - a utility that lines up the Finder's windows according to rules you specify.  Helps put an end to Finder disorganization.

  61. Catalog 3.1 - a disk cataloging utility.  Prints contents, saves text files, gives info such as size, modification date, type/creator.

  63. Lockout 3.3.1 - a login-screen type of security program supporting an Administrator, multiple users, and network-shared user ID/password access.

  65. CodeCounter 1.0 - a 'C' and 'C++' source lines-of-code counter.  Probably only useful to 'C' and 'C++' programmers.
